Control panel >> Order management >> Email notifications

You can create a default status change email, which will automatically contain the order number, order status and order details. When this facility is enabled, you will be asked if you want to send the shopper an email every time you change the status of an order.

This is an ideal way to keep the shopper informed on the progress of their order.
