Managing your products and categories

Control panel >> Product / category management

Categories
Shop Maker works on a 2 level category system where sub categories sit within a main category. e.g.: You could have a main category called Electronics and in that main category you could have the sub categories: Digital Cameras & MP3 Players.

Main categories
Main categories can be displayed in a bar below the logo and the category box. You can determine where the main categories are displayed in the layout settings. You can also determine the order in which the main categories is displayed by entering a priority number in the main category administration. The order in which main categories are displayed will be by priority first, followed by alphabetical order. If you leave the priority value blank, they will be displayed in alphabetical order.

Sub categories
Sub categories are displayed in the category panel on the side of the shop. Just like the main categories, you can determine the order in which these are displayed by using the priority system.

If the shopper selects a main category, all the products in all of that main categories sub categories are displayed.
The shopper then narrows down there shearch by selecting a sub category.
